Statement of Faith

The following represents the core theological convictions of HaShomer Ministries, rooted in the whole of Scripture — from the Tenach to the B'rit Hadasha — and grounded in the Messianic Jewish tradition of faith in Yeshua as Israel's promised Messiah.

The Scriptures

We believe that the Tenach and the B'rit Hadasha together form the complete, inspired, and infallible Word of G-d — our supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice. These writings are not in conflict but form one unified revelation, rooted in Adonai's covenant relationship with His people and fulfilled in the person and work of Yeshua the Messiah.

G-d — Echad

We believe in one G-d — the G-d of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob — as declared in the Shema: "Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one" (Deuteronomy 6:4). This oneness is an echad — a composite, plural unity — eternally existing as Father (Abba), Son, and Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh). He is the creator of all things, the keeper of His covenants, and the G-d who acts in history.

Yeshua the Messiah — His First Coming

We believe that Yeshua of Nazareth is the promised Mashiach of Israel — fully G-d and fully man — conceived by the Ruach HaKodesh and born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14). He lived a sinless life and was crucified as the atoning sacrifice for sin, fulfilling the atonement foreshadowed in the Torah (Leviticus 17:11) and prophesied in Isaiah 53. He rose bodily from the dead and ascended to the right hand of the Father.

Yeshua the Messiah — His Second Coming

We believe that Yeshua will return to reign as King over all the earth from Jerusalem. At His return the dead in Messiah will rise, and those alive will be gathered to Him. He will establish His Messianic Kingdom, and on that day all Israel shall be saved (Romans 11:26).

The Ruach HaKodesh

We believe in the Ruach HaKodesh — the Holy Spirit of G-d — who convicts the world of sin, regenerates all who trust in Yeshua, seals and indwells believers, and empowers the community of Messiah to walk in holiness and proclaim the Good News to Israel and the nations.

Humanity and Sin

We believe that men and women are created in the image of G-d (Genesis 1:26–27), but that through disobedience all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of G-d (Romans 3:23). We are all in need of redemption.

Salvation

We believe that salvation comes through trusting in Yeshua the Messiah alone — His atoning death and bodily resurrection. This gift is received by faith, not by works, and is available to both Jew and Gentile alike (Ephesians 2:8–9).

Resurrection and Judgment

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead — the redeemed to everlasting life, and the lost to eternal separation from G-d (Daniel 12:2–3; John 11:25–26). Every person will stand before Adonai in final judgment.

Israel and the Jewish People

We believe that the Jewish people are Adonai's covenant people — chosen, called, and beloved. The Land of Israel was given to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as an everlasting possession. The ongoing regathering of the Jewish people to the Land is a fulfillment of biblical prophecy and a living testimony to the faithfulness of G-d. We do not believe the Church has replaced Israel in G-d's redemptive purposes. In accordance with Genesis 12:3 — "I will bless those who bless you" — we are committed to standing with the Jewish people and the State of Israel.

Jewish Identity

We believe that Jewish believers in Yeshua are called to maintain their Jewish identity and heritage. There is no conflict between the Tenach and the B'rit Hadasha, and there is a valid Jewish expression of faith in Yeshua. The Messiahship of Yeshua does not require Jewish believers to abandon their people, their heritage, or their calling.

The Covenants

We believe that G-d's covenants — Abrahamic, Mosaic, Davidic, and the New Covenant foretold through Jeremiah and Ezekiel — are one unfolding plan of redemption. The B'rit Hadasha does not abolish what came before, but fulfills and deepens it in Yeshua.

The Body of Messiah

We believe in one body of Messiah — Jewish and Gentile believers united in Yeshua. Gentile believers are grafted into the olive tree of Israel (Romans 11) and share in the covenantal blessings of Abraham. Jew and Gentile together form one new humanity in Messiah, neither complete without the other.

Marriage and Human Dignity

We believe that G-d creates every person in His image and calls us to honor that dignity in all people. We believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman as defined in Scripture (Genesis 2:18–25), and that human sexuality is a gift to be expressed within that covenant.
